Turquoise inlay (Firuzehkubi) involves placing layers of turquoise chips on the surface of objects and jewelry. While arranging turquoise chips and colorful mosaics has a long history in Iran and worldwide, the turquoise inlay, as practiced in Isfahan today, is part of contemporary arts, originating within the current century.

Turquoise comes naturally in various colors, ranging from bright sky blue to green and gray. Green and pale blue turquoise is more common but less valuable. However, turquoise, with its beautiful and popular color, is rare and very expensive and enjoys high quality.

The art is processed by artists placing the chips or grains of turquoise on the desired surface using tweezers and fixing them with special glue. The objects or jewelry that undergo turquoise inlay are made of metals or alloys such as gold, silver, copper, brass, bronze, and nickel.

In the case of turquoise inlay, the higher the quality and colorfulness of the turquoise chips, the more uniform the surface of the final product, and the closer the arrangement of chips, the more valuable it will be. To preserve their beauty, turquoise inlay products must be protected from impact, heat, and acidic substances.
