By the efforts of its sports-loving personnel and the support of the Isfahan Steel Company (Zobahan)—the first producer of construction steel and rails in the country, also nicknamed as the mother of country's industry—the Isfahan Zobahan Cultural & Sports Club was established in June 1968.

In 1969, the club was registered in the name of its founder, the late Mohammad-Ali Taqizadeh, and until today and over the last five decades, it has played a very important role in the development and progress of Iranian sports by managing teams in most of the country's sports fields for both men and women. It has played both in the championship and in public sports and has been prominent as a supporting club for the country's national teams.

The Isfahan Zobahan Club is the richest and most successful club of the country in terms of sports infrastructure. The club possesses 10 sports complexes in the cities of Isfahan, Fouladshahr, and Chamgordan as well as the Zobahan Steel Company.

In the history of Iranian sports, the Zobahan Football Team has always been at the first level of football and with four championships in the Iranian Cup, it is considered as one of the most successful teams of this cup. The most important achievements of this club include 4 runner-up championships of the Iran Football League, 4 championships of the Iran Football Cup, 1 championship of the Iranian Football Super Cup, and 1 runner-up position of the Asian Champions League.
