The city of Isfahan is one of the sister cities of Kuwait. According to the list of sister-city partnerships of the Isfahan Municipality, the date of the sister-city agreement between Isfahan and Kuwait is recorded as June 19, 2000.

The State of Kuwait has an ancient maritime heritage, and the construction and use of the “dhow”—the traditional sailing vessel of the Persian Gulf—is considered one of the important elements of its maritime culture. For example, the historic ship Fateh Al-Khayr, which was built in Kuwait, stands as a symbol of this heritage.
