There is a cultural and intellectual connection between Isfahan and Vietnam. For example, in spring 2023 (May 3, 2023), the mayor of Isfahan, Ali Ghasemzadeh, emphasized that the Isfahan Municipality is ready to develop closer cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam “based on mutual interests and shared needs.”
The art of painting with rice grains in Vietnam is a relatively new innovation that has attracted increasing attention in recent years.
The method works as follows: rice grains are colored or toasted/dried to create different shades. Then these grains are carefully arranged and adhered to a canvas or board to create images of landscapes, people, or cultural symbols.
This art is important for the following reasons:
Rice in Vietnamese culture symbolizes abundance, life, solidarity, and connection to the land.
Using a material that is part of a nation’s livelihood and identity and transforming it into art demonstrates creativity and respect for tradition.
Since around the 2010these artworks have appeared as souvenirs or gifts for special guests, exhibitions, and international meetings in Vietnam.

بین اصفهان و ویتنام ارتباط فرهنگی و فکری وجود دارد. برای مثال، شهردار اصفهان، علی قاسمزاده در بهار ۱۴۰۲ (۳ می ۲۰۲۳) تأکید کرد که شهرداری اصفهان آماده است با شهر هوشیمینسیتی در ویتنام «بر اساس منافع و نیاز مشترک» همکاریهای نزدیکتری داشته باشد.
هنر نقاشی با دانههای برنج در ویتنام، ابتکار نسبتاً جدیدی است که در سالهای اخیر توجه بیشتری به خود جلب کرده است.
روش کار این چنین است: دانههای برنج را با رنگ یا از طریق بو دادن / خشک کردن به درجات رنگی مختلف درمیآورند. سپس این دانهها را با ظرافت روی بوم یا قالبی میچسبانند تا تصویرِ منظره، افراد یا نمادهای فرهنگی خلق شود.
این هنر به دلایل زیر مهم است:
برنج در فرهنگ ویتنام نمادِ فراوانی، زندگی، همبستگی و ارتباط با زمین است.
استفاده از مادهای که بخشی از معیشت و هویت یک ملت است، تبدیل شدن آن به هنر، نشانهای از خلاقیت و احترام به سنت است.
از حدود دهه ۲۰۱۰، این آثار بهعنوان هدایا (souvenir) برای مهمانان ویژه، نمایشگاهها و نشستهای بینالمللی در ویتنام ظاهر شدهاند.
