The cities of Isfahan and Saint Petersburg in Russia signed an agreement in 1999.

According to reports, this agreement was signed by the then-mayor of Isfahan, Mohammad Ali Javadi, and the first deputy governor of Saint Petersburg at the time.

This partnership was introduced as one of the foundations for cultural, tourism, and economic development between the two cities.
