One of Isfahan’s sister-city agreements is with the German city of Freiburg im Breisgau, established in the year 2000.
In Germany, beginning in the nineteenth century, the souvenir and commemorative-plate industry (Gedenk-Platten) grew significantly, serving to depict urban landscapes, national symbols, or special events.
Metal plates—or pieces combining metal and ceramic—were often used as official municipal, diplomatic, or commercial gifts. They typically featured relief engravings of cityscapes, municipal emblems, or regional symbols.
Culturally, such gifts represent a form of urban diplomatic tradition: through agreements or official visits between two cities or civic institutions, a specially designed gift is presented, showcasing both the craftsmanship of the gifting city and symbolizing the cultural connection between the two.

بشقاب یادبود فلزی

یکی از قراردادهای خواهرخواندگی اصفهان با شهر Freiburg im Breisgau در آلمان در سال ۲۰۰۰ ذکر شده است.

در آلمان، از دوران قرن نوزدهم به بعد، صنعت یادبودسازی souvenir)  (Gedenk-Plattenرشد یافت: برای نمایش مناظر شهری، نمادهای ملی، یا مناسبت‌های خاص.

از دید فرهنگی، چنین هدایایی نمادی از فرهنگ دیپلماتیک شهری هستند: به‌ واسطهٔ قرارداد یا دیداری بین دو شهر یا نهاد شهری، هدیه‌ای با طراحی ویژه اهدا می‌شود که هم نشان‌دهنده مهارت صنایع‌دستی شهر هدیه‌دهنده است و هم نمادی از ارتباط بین دو شهر.
