Isfahan is one of the “sister cities” of Freiburg im Breisgau in Germany.
According to available sources, the sister-city agreement between Isfahan and Freiburg was signed in the year 2000.
Therefore, the date of the agreement can be stated as October 27, 2000 (or around that time), signed between the Municipality of Isfahan and the Municipality of Freiburg.
On the German side, the agreement was represented by the Municipality of Freiburg (Freiburg im Breisgau), and on the Iranian side, by the Municipality of Isfahan.
This agreement was established to promote cultural, academic, and municipal cooperation, as well as exchanges between the two cities.

In German (and European) culture, it is customary that, on the occasion of signing intercity agreements or cultural cooperation programs, a commemorative medal or coin is minted or presented.
This practice carries both symbolic value—“we share friendship”—and lasting significance: the medal is offered to the partner city as a permanent token of cooperation.

سکه فلزی

  شهر اصفهان یکی از «شهرهای خواهر» با شهر Freiburg im Breisgau در آلمان است.

  طبق منابع، قرارداد خواهرخواندگی بین اصفهان و فریبورگ در سال ۲۰۰۰ به امضا رسیده است.

بنابراین می‌توان گفت: تاریخ قرارداد: ۲۷ اکتبر ۲۰۰۰ (یا حوالی آن) بین شهرداری اصفهان و شهرداری فریبورگ.

  از سمت آلمان: شهرداری فریبورگ (Freiburg im Breisgau)؛ از سمت ایران: شهرداری اصفهان.

  این قرارداد برای گسترش همکاری فرهنگی، دانشگاهی، شهرداری‌ها، تبادل‌ها بین دو شهر می‌باشد.

  در فرهنگ آلمان (و اروپا) معمول است که به مناسبت امضای قراردادهای بین‌شهری یا برنامه‌های همکاری فرهنگی، یک مدال یا سکه یادبود ضرب شود یا اهدا گردد.

  این شیوه، هم جنبه نمادین دارد — «ما دوستی داریم» — و هم جنبه ماندگاری: مدال به عنوان یادگار همکاری به شهر ذی‌نفع تقدیم می‌شود.

  در موزه‌ها و آرشیوهای آلمان، مجموعه‌های سکه‌ها و مدال‌های بین‌المللی دیده می‌شود که از روابط آلمان با کشورهای دیگر به جای مانده‌اند.

  مدال یا سکه ماندگاری دارد برخلاف هدایا مصرفی، این نوع هدایا به آرشیو شهر یا شهرداری می‌روند و می‌توانند نسل‌ها باقی بمانند.
